13 IRREGULAR MIGRANTS IN THE BUFFER ZONE

 Filenews 31 May 2024

After migrants were found in the buffer zone, immediate humanitarian assistance was provided from the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), including food, water, shelter and medical assistance for the most vulnerable, UNFICYP spokesman Alim Siddiq told CNA.

Asked by CNA, Siddiq said that the majority of them are women and children.

"They receive immediate humanitarian assistance from UNFICYP, including food, water, shelter and medical assistance for the most vulnerable," Siddiq said.

President Nikos Christodoulides said in statements earlier tonight that these were 13 irregular migrants.

According to CNA, these people have been in the buffer zone, in the area behind the University of Cyprus, since Tuesday.
