The Municipality of Pafos announces the commencement of the licensing process for the operation and rental of personal mobility devices within the boundaries of the Municipality of Pafos.
In order to improve urban mobility and promote sustainable mobility, the Municipality offers the possibility of licensing up to 250 devices.
The license for the operation of Personal Mobility Devices in the Paphos Municipality is valid for one year from the date of issue and allows each applicant to license up to 50 devices. In total, licenses for up to 250 devices will be granted to the Municipality, at a cost of €30 per device per year. In addition, the Pafos Municipality has predetermined the parking and rental spots, thus offering citizens specific options for the use of these devices.
The evaluation of applications will be carried out on the basis of the licensing conditions, while in case the limit of 250 devices is exceeded, the selection of contractors will be made through a draw procedure by the competent authority.
As part of the permitting, the Municipality will ensure that the terms and conditions of the granted license are met. In case of non-compliance, the Municipality has the right to revoke the license. The Municipality has designated specific routes where e-scooters are allowed, including bike lanes and roads with a speed limit of 30 km/h. The speed limit on pedestrian zones is set at 7 km/h, and licensees must be able to prove the electronic application of this limit. The Municipality encourages the use of helmets in accordance with Law N.29(I)/2018, requiring licensees to ensure the availability of helmets.
