TALA - MELISSOVOUNOS RESIDENTS COMPLAIN AT DELAYS REGARDING WATER SUPPLY NETWORK

 Pafos Press 14 May 2024

Strong complaints are expressed by residents of the Melissovounos area in Tala due to the delay observed in the completion of the project to replace the community's water supply network.

Residents of the area, speaking to PafosPress , complain about the nuisance that has been observed for weeks in Melissovounos from the digging in the streets for the needs of the project.

For almost a month now, they argue, "the project is not progressing at a fast or even normal pace, as a result of which we have been drowning in dust".

Essentially, the problem, as they say, arose because a long distance of roads in the Melissovounos area was excavated from the beginning and not a segmental excavation, with the result that, also due to the Easter period, the work remained at a standstill and the project was incomplete.

As PafosPress is informed, as of today, after intense pressure and protests from the residents, as well as intervention from the Community Council, the project contractor has returned to normal work and will now complete the replacement piece by piece so that the project can be handed over to traffic gradually .

The replacement water supply system of the area was deemed necessary since several houses had been built in Melissovounos since the 70s and 80s, as a result of which the replacement of the water pipes was necessary due to poor water quality.
