In areas of the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous, the way is paved for increased investments in the tourism industry after the finalization of the Local Plan.
Specifically, according to the final provisions of the Local Plan, as decided by the Minister of Interior (following objections by those affected), the following occurs:
Modification of Tourist Zone T6a1 (building coefficients 0.20:1 for Tourist Villages/Tourist Villas/Organized Apartments and 0.15:1 for Residence) in Tourist Zone T3d2 (building coefficients 0.35:1 for Hotels, 0.20:1 for Tourist Villages/Tourist Villas/Organized Apartments and 0.15:1 for Residence). As stated in the rationale of the amendments, their purpose is to increase the possibilities of building hotel units through the utilization of existing Tourist Zones.
In the proposal of Mr. Constantinos Ioannou to the Council of Ministers, it is stated that the aforementioned Zones are bordering, have similar morphological characteristics and are also located inland, without affecting areas that are environmentally sensitive.
