A bizarre incident unfolded on Friday night, during the inauguration of a playground in Pano Polemidia.   A priest with his two minor children, for an unknown reason confronted the police officers who were present and insulted them.   Now the father is facing justice.

As Philenews learns, the incident took place around 20:10 last night when a member of the Limassol OPE while at the entrance of the courtyard of the event and at that time the people were departing after the inauguration had been completed, noticed a father of the church who was wearing robes, accompanied by two minor children.

According to the same information, as soon as the priest noticed the presence of uniformed police officers who were at the venue of the event, he began to march against the police, shouting loudly and provocatively, uttering the phrases "cops, pigs, murderers, you are useless", addressing the police officers who were on the opposite sidewalk.

The shouting and behaviour of the priest caused concern. At that time, members of the OPE Limassol approached the priest and showed him their identity card, as they were in civilian clothes. The priest, according to the information on our website, was informed about the offenses he was committing, namely public insult and alarm. After being asked for his details, he refused to comply while the Police did not proceed with his arrest due to the peculiarity of the event as there were about 700 people, mainly children, women and officials. As well as because the priest was accompanied by his two minor children.

It should be noted that the priest, instead of complying, continued to insult the policemen by telling them "you are useless".

It should be noted that the priest was summoned to appear at the Polemidia Police Station where he was charged in writing to be summoned later before the Limassol District Court for the offences he committed. In fact, according to the same information, the accused priest admitted to insulting and abusive behaviour against the police.
