The three Greek Cypriots detained in connection with the commission of burglaries and thefts committed between the years 2020-2024, men aged 32, 35 and a woman aged 36, all from Paphos, were today indicted before an assize court that will meet on 25/6/24.
The 35-year-old faces 34 counts of burglary, of which 20 were committed in Paphos and 14 in Limassol. Further, the indictment includes various other offenses such as Conspiracy to commit a felony, Theft, Unlawful possession of property, Money laundering, etc.
The 32-year-old faces charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, unlawful possession of property and money laundering.
The 36-year-old faces charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, theft, unlawful possession of property and money laundering.
The 32-year-old and 36-year-old were released with conditions, the main ones being bail of €150,000 with a creditworthy guarantor.
For the 35-year-old, a request was made to detain him pending trial. The court will decide on the police request on 5/30/24, after his side filed an objection asking that he too be released with conditions. Until then, he remains in custody.

Moments of terror were experienced by two tourists from Ukraine in Paphos during the day.
According to the Police, around two in the afternoon on Friday while the two women aged 24 and 30 were in their apartment with the door open, two men at gunpoint demanded money from them.
Frightened, the two women gave the perpetrators approximately €1600 and the other €230 and they fled.
The Paphos TAE is investigating the robbery case.

In the context of an investigation into a case of car theft committed in Limassol, the Police arrested two persons, while two more persons were arrested, in connection with an investigated case of theft of property from a parked car, committed in Larnaca. The two cases are being investigated by the ICF Limassol and the Central Police Station of Larnaka, respectively.
In Limassol specifically, according to a complaint filed with the ICF on May 17, a 64-year-old man, in the evening between May 16 and 17, stole his van-type car while it was parked outside his residence. Inside the van were also electric and other tools. The stolen vehicle was found by members of the Limassol OPE the next day, May 18, parked in an area in Limassol. Electrical and other tools had been stolen from the vehicle.
As part of the investigation into the theft case, evidence emerged against two men, aged 31 and 28, and judicial arrest warrants were issued against them. The 31-year-old suspect was identified and arrested last Thursday, May 23, while the 28-year-old was located and arrested on Friday.
In Larnaca, last Wednesday, May 22nd, a 64-year-old man reported to the police that, on the same day, a sum of €840 was stolen from his car, which he had left parked without locking it, in an open field, in an area of the city.
Examinations carried out by members of the Police revealed evidence against a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old minor. Judicial arrest warrants were issued against them, on the basis of which they were arrested last night and detained for the purpose of investigating the case.

One step before sentencing is the horrific case being heard before the Permanent Assize Court of Limassol with a 50-year-old accused who sexually abused his underage foster daughter.
As philenews is authoritatively informed, the Permanent Assize Court of Limassol in a closed proceedings, found the 50-year-old guilty on 15 charges related to child sexual abuse offenses. These offences were committed for about a year behind the closed doors of the house where the minor was raised.
In today's proceedings, according to the same information, the Assize Court found all prosecution witnesses credible in contrast to defence witnesses, including the accused, who were found to be unreliable. The case was heard after the defendant denied the charges against him.
Following today's ruling, the Court established a new procedure for mitigation speeches, while the defendant was returned back to the Central Prison as an undertrial.
The case was brought to light by "F" and as we wrote a few months ago, at the time the offences were committed, the victim was only 11 years old. The little girl was looking for affection and love, feelings that she did not have the opportunity to get from her real parents. She was given to a foster family about 3 years ago in order to grow up in a healthy environment, but the little girl lived for a whole year the ultimate nightmare at the hands of her foster parent.
The now 14-year-old girl decided to break her silence and reveal what was happening in the house where she was growing up, to her foster mother with the case reaching the hands of the authorities. The complaint reached the hands of the Office for the Handling of Family Violence and Child Abuse of the Headquarters and after investigation, the case was brought for trial in camera before the Permanent Assize Court.

More than 380 traffic offences were detected and reported on the road network of the Limassol district during the weekly campaign of the Limassol Traffic Police for the prevention of road collisions, which took place between 17 and 24 May 2024.
During the campaign, the members of the Limassol Traffic Police proceeded to a total of 384 complaints for various traffic offences, some of which concern offences, which are proven to be the main causes of fatal and serious road collisions.
Specifically, 39 complaints were made for driving under the influence of alcohol, 22 for speeding, 20 for using a mobile phone while driving and 16 for not wearing a seat belt or protective helmet.
Most of the complaints concerned driving without a driver's licence. Specifically, 94 cases of persons driving without holding a driver's license were identified and reported. Of these cases, 53 were registered directly at the Limassol District Court and relevant summons were served on the defendants.
During the campaign, 18 cars and nine motorcycles were impounded by the Traffic Police for various offences.
The weekly campaign of the Limassol Traffic Police, for the prevention of road collisions, is part of the ongoing effort of the Cyprus Police to consolidate a proper road culture in our country. Police checks throughout the road network are daily and continuous and aim to reduce fatal and serious road collisions.

A bizarre incident unfolded on Friday night, during the inauguration of a playground in Pano Polemidia. A priest with his two minor children, for an unknown reason confronted the police officers who were present and insulted them. Now the father is facing justice.
As Philenews learns, the incident took place around 20:10 last night when a member of the Limassol OPE while at the entrance of the courtyard of the event and at that time the people were departing after the inauguration had been completed, noticed a father of the church who was wearing robes, accompanied by two minor children.
According to the same information, as soon as the priest noticed the presence of uniformed police officers who were at the venue of the event, he began to march against the police, shouting loudly and provocatively, uttering the phrases "cops, pigs, murderers, you are useless", addressing the police officers who were on the opposite sidewalk.
The shouting and behaviour of the priest caused concern. At that time, members of the OPE Limassol approached the priest and showed him their identity card, as they were in civilian clothes. The priest, according to the information on our website, was informed about the offenses he was committing, namely public insult and alarm. After being asked for his details, he refused to comply while the Police did not proceed with his arrest due to the peculiarity of the event as there were about 700 people, mainly children, women and officials. As well as because the priest was accompanied by his two minor children.
It should be noted that the priest, instead of complying, continued to insult the policemen by telling them "you are useless".
It should be noted that the priest was summoned to appear at the Polemidia Police Station where he was charged in writing to be summoned later before the Limassol District Court for the offences he committed. In fact, according to the same information, the accused priest admitted to insulting and abusive behaviour against the police.
