Members of the Police proceeded to the arrest of a 43-year-old man, after a pistol and bullets were found in his possession during a check that took place today at noon, in Nicosia. The suspect was taken into custody, with the ICF Nicosia investigating.
Specifically, shortly after 11.30am on Saturday, members of the Nicosia Central Police Station and the Aliens and Immigration Service – Nicosia Immigration Service went to check an area in Nicosia, following information that a suspicious person lived in an abandoned building, owned by another person.
During the check, the 43-year-old man was found at the premises, who was in possession of a pistol-type firearm. The 43-year-old tried to escape and was stopped by members of the police, who despite the fact that the 43-year-old attacked them and resisted, proceeded to arrest him.
From the examinations that followed at the scene, by members of the ICF of Nicosia, as well as by members of the Criminal Investigation Service of the Police Headquarters, it was found that the pistol in the possession of the 43-year-old was loaded, with a bullet in the chamber and a number of cartridges in the cartridge case.
In a search of the premises, another 7 full cartridges and a sum of money amounting to €5,500 were found, the origin of which is being investigated, with the suspect stating that the money was income from his work in a restaurant.

Members of the Police and specifically members of the Larnaca OPE, proceeded to the arrest of a 34-year-old man, whom they found inside the courtyard of a Lyceum in Larnaca, shortly after 8.00 last night, in possession of burglary tools, a stolen motorcycle, as well as other property for the possession of which he did not give sufficient explanations.
After the 34-year-old was initially arrested for flagrant offences, he was subsequently also arrested under a court warrant, which had been issued following evidence that emerged against him, in relation to three cases of burglary and theft, committed recently, in the district of Larnaka.
In one of the premises, under construction building in the area of Aradippou, according to a complaint submitted to the Police on May 06, a burglary was committed, during which cables and electrical equipment, worth €2,000, were stolen from the building.
The 34-year-old suspect was taken into custody for the purpose of investigating burglary and theft, motorcycle theft, illegal possession of property, and possession of burglary tools.
