 Filenews 5 April 2024

There do not seem to be any prospects of halting the continued upward trend of the price of Brent oil in the international market, since since yesterday the price per barrel, for May deliveries, exceeded the barrier of $ 90 per barrel. Negotiations are currently taking place at a price of $91.1, with an upward trend.

Today's prices are at their highest since1 2024, but it's also a seven-month record. On February 1, the price per barrel had risen to $ 78.70 and continues to rise to this day.

The increases in the international market for Brent oil point to new increases in the retail price of motor fuels in Cyprus as well, following other increases that preceded it in recent days. There have already been significant increases (over 8.3 cents per litre) due to the abolition of the excise tax reduction.
