The authorities set up a large operation on Sunday afternoon in view of a new mass arrival of migrants at Cape Greco.
Five boats with more than 200 people were reportedly spotted sailing off the coast and arrived on the Golden Coast.
As we are informed so far, based on the counts so far, the first boat had 21 people on board and the second 150.
Members of the Police, the Civil Defence have been recruited for the operation, while ambulances are also at the scene. The migrants, including men, women and children, are reportedly from Syria and set off from the Lebanese coast as soon as weather conditions improved.
Upon arrival of the migrants at the fishing shelter, their details are recorded and then they will be taken to the Pournara Temporary Accommodation Center for Migrants in Kokkinotrimithia.
In mid-March there was the most massive arrival of six boats with 458 migrants, which alarmed the authorities, putting them on alert. The six boats were again spotted off Cape Greco by the radar of the Republic of Cyprus.
