GREEN SPACE REPLACES GAS STATION IN THE CENTRE

Filenews 1 April 2024 - by Dora Christodoulou

After the relocation of Andreas Kommatos petrol station from the commercial centre of Pafos, it now marked the end of an era and the image known for decades in the most central part of Pafos.

With the works of the petrol station having been fully transferred to the new premises on Apostolou Pavlou Avenue, on the way to the port of Kato Paphos, for two days now the facilities of the service station on Evagoras Pallikarides Avenue have been demolished and the area now resembles a construction site.

The relocation of the first petrol station from the centre of Pafos, which has been operating on a piece of Turkish Cypriot property since 1948, follows the long-standing efforts of the Municipality and other bodies for the gradual transfer of these businesses outside the central fabric of the city.

Following the relocation of the business and the ongoing demolition of the premises in the area of the city centre, planning is in full swing to include the area in the project of the Creation of the Historical Documentation Centre of the City of Pafos, which is already being implemented focusing on the buildings of the old Police Department on Kennedy Square.

The project managers once again expressed their thanks for the significant contribution of the T/C Property Management Service, Hellenic Petroleum Cyprus Ltd and the petrol station owner, Andreas Kommatos, to make the major planning possible.
