The Police proceeded with the arrest of a minor at the Juvenile Shelter in Paphos in order to facilitate the investigations into an investigated case of assault against a Police Officer.

According to Pafos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, yesterday members of the Police went for preventive checks to the Juvenile Shelter in Paphos, where minors are accommodated. Due to the non-payment of the monthly payment, there were suspicions that tension would arise between them, he added.

As Mr. Nicolaou mentioned, tension did arise between minors and the Police intervened, while one of them allegedly threw a chair at a Police Officer, slightly injuring him in the palm.

The minor was arrested, taken to the police and questioned but due to his age he was released in the evening. According to Mr. Nicolaou, the file will be completed and he will take the road through the Legal Service to receive instructions on whether the minor will be prosecuted.

Police arrested a 32-year-old woman on Tuesday to facilitate investigations into a case of impersonation and illegal employment in Paphos.

According to Pafos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on 2.4.24 at about 10:20, members of the Aliens and Immigration Service went to a specific hotel in Kato Paphos to investigate information that foreigners were working illegally there.

As part of the operation, they located a woman who was employed inside the hotel. The 32-year-old, who declared herself a permanent resident of Cyprus, was found by further examinations that based on her data, she had arrived in Cyprus in 2018, but since 5.10.19 she was staying illegally in the Republic.

The examinations also revealed that she was hired at the hotel for work by presenting a false document, according to which she came from a country other than her country of origin. The 32-year-old was arrested and is in custody.

The robbery and extortion of a sum of money over €50,000 was reported by a 36-year-old man to the ICF of Limassol, while a 35-year-old man is wanted for the case and investigations are underway to secure the details of two other persons.

According to the complaint made by the complainant, on Tuesday afternoon, he met with an unknown person in the Germasogeia area, after arranging an appointment, through an online application, for the purchase of cryptocurrencies.

The unknown man entered the 36-year-old's vehicle and at one point allegedly grabbed him by the neck, while at the same time, two other people entered the vehicle and stole a bag with the amount of money he was carrying.

The attackers fled and the 36-year-old reported the case to the police, who secured testimony against a 35-year-old man, against whom a court arrest warrant was issued and is wanted.

In the hands of the ICF of Limassol is a 39-year-old Syrian, who is expected to be arrested for malicious damage and causing fire in a building. The 39-year-old appears to have threatened other foreigners that he would burn them if they did not pay him rent.

According to the Police, around one o'clock in the morning information was given to the Police that in the area of Tsiflikoudia in Limassol, foreigners were fighting with each other.

Patrols went to the place, where they found 7 foreigners from Syria holding immobilized a 39-year-old Syrian.

It should be noted that according to the foreigners, ten minutes after midnight and while they were sleeping in a room of an abandoned premises, they noticed fire at the entrance door of the room,  of clothes and other clothing and footwear.

They extinguished the fire using water and damaged the door and walls of the room.

After 30 minutes and after extinguishing the fire, the foreigners saw opposite the premises and on the sidewalk the 39-year-old foreigner, who was mocking them. It should be noted that the foreigner two days ago asked them to leave the premises, after asking them to pay rent, for which they refused and he then threatened to burn them.

Then they approached him and he reacted, tried to escape and the foreigners with the use of similar force, immobilized him until the arrival of the Police.

Members of the ICF of Limassol were called to the scene and the examinations revealed that the fire was set with the use of flammable material. The scene was placed under guard pending the examinations that will follow in cooperation with the Fire Brigade.

The 39-year-old suspect was taken to the offices of the ICF of Limassol, where an arrest warrant is expected to be issued against him, while examinations continue.

For a few days now, a 48-year-old woman has been under the microscope of the investigators of the ICF of Limassol for being raped by a 38-year-old suspect and is being investigated with great care.

The complaint, as Philenews is aware, was made last Friday by the 48-year-old complainant and a videotaped statement was taken from her.

The 48-year-old, who is a person with whom she has mental problems and mental disabilities, claimed, among other things, that the employee in question had indecently assaulted her in the past. It all started, according to Philenews, when the director of the institution realized that the 48-year-old was behaving strangely. Coming out of a specific area of the institution, he asked the 48-year-old if anything was going on, and then the latter reported that the 38-year-old had sexually abused her.

Immediate steps were taken to inform the complainant's home and then to file a complaint with the ICF of Limassol.

The 38-year-old was arrested on the same day and last Saturday morning he was brought before the Limassol District Court, which in closed proceedings, ordered his detention for a period of 6 days. The 38-year-old suspect is reportedly silent.

The case is being investigated with great care both for the nature of the offences under investigation and for the particular weaknesses of the complainant.

Police investigations are ongoing in relation to the shots fired at a vehicle shop on Omonia Avenue in Limassol.

In addition to the on-site examinations, under the microscope of the investigators, various closed circuit surveillance systems of premises have been put in an effort to trace the movements of the unknown perpetrators.

It is estimated that the shots were fired between seven on Tuesday night and eight this morning.

The shooting damaged three used vehicles, as well as the showcase.

In testimony, the 65-year-old, who became aware of the damage this morning, said he did not suspect anyone and had no differences with anyone.
