The imposition of green taxation should be expected in September or October, according to the finance minister, who wanted to clarify that the new tax will be imposed in the autumn.
"I don't know why it has crept into the public debate that on April 1 there will be green taxation," said Makis Keravnos, after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, noting that there is still time to study the compensatory measures that will accompany green taxation.

Asked if he could reveal anything about the measures, he said there was nothing ready "that I can reveal or not reveal".
"Let me remind you that in the previous package of measures to tackle high prices, for some categories such as single-parent families and vulnerable groups, middle strata, the measure of one-off sponsorship had been applied. Therefore, there is a comprehensive approach to the whole issue and in the coming days there will be an announcement," he said.
