Police made a third arrest yesterday to facilitate investigations into an investigated case of residential burglary, robbery and theft, committed last February in Larnaca. He is a 23-year-old man against whom a court arrest warrant was pending in connection with this case, while in the previous days the police had arrested two other persons, aged 40 and 18, who are in custody.

The case was committed at dawn on February 19, 2024, in Larnaca. According to the evidence under consideration, around 2 a.m. Four unidentified men, who were wearing a hood, broke into and entered the 59-year-old woman's home and, under threat of pruning shears, confined both the 59-year-old and her two domestic workers in a room of the house. Subsequently, the perpetrators, after stealing various pieces of gold, watches and money, fled in an unknown direction.

Police examinations revealed testimony against the 40-year-old and 18-year-old, against whom judicial arrest warrants were issued. They were arrested on March 16 for facilitating interrogations and are in eight-day detention.

Further examinations also secured testimony against the 23-year-old, who was located and arrested yesterday under a court warrant.

Police have arrested a 40-year-old man to facilitate investigations into a car arson case committed yesterday in Nicosia.

The fire broke out around 7 p.m. yesterday, in a car that was immobilized in an open area, in Nicosia. The fire was extinguished by members of the Fire Brigade, while examinations carried out at the scene found that the fire was set maliciously.

Police examinations secured testimony against the 40-year-old, who was arrested today under a court warrant to facilitate interrogations. The 40-year-old then appeared before the Nicosia District Court, which issued an eight-day detention order against him.
