Police have arrested two people, aged 53, as part of an investigation into a car arson case committed yesterday morning in Paphos.
According to the data under investigation, at around 3.30 am on Tuesday, a fire broke out in a car, which was parked in an area in the Paphos district. The fire completely destroyed the vehicle.
From the examinations made by the Police and the Fire Brigade, it was found that the fire in the car was set maliciously.
During the investigation of the case by the ICF of Pafos, evidence emerged against the two 53-year-old suspects. Judicial warrants were issued against them for their arrest, under which they were arrested, the first yesterday afternoon and the second this morning.
Earlier on Wednesday morning, the first suspect was brought before the Paphos District Court, which issued a one-day detention order for the purpose of investigating the case.

A 36-year-old Georgian man was arrested last night by police on suspicion of theft and burglary. Burglary tools were found inside the car in which he was traveling, while it is being examined whether the vehicle he was using was also stolen.
The vehicle had run out of fuel when it was spotted, and officers noticed that the 36-year-old driver was using it, starting it with wires instead of the key. The vehicle is not registered in his name and tests are being carried out to determine where it was stolen from.

Members of the Limassol Police arrested a 40-year-old man last night after he was found in possession of property such as jewellery, watches and other items, for which he did not give satisfactory explanations. The suspect was taken into custody, with police investigating the possibility that the property found was stolen.
Members of the ICF, OPE, and YKAN Limassol in particular, conducted a search at around 8.00 last night, at the residence of the 40-year-old, pursuant to a court warrant. During the search, ten wristwatches, four rings and an engagement with name and date inscription, one gold sovereign, three collector coins and seven other small coins, a bicycle, an electric bicycle, and other items were found.
Questioned by members of the police, the 40-year-old did not give satisfactory explanations as to the legality of possession of the found, resulting in his arrest for the offence of illegal possession of property. The suspect has been taken into custody and tests are underway to determine whether they are stolen property.

A 36-year-old man was arrested by police in Paphos while trying to steal a car in Kato Paphos, which he had burglarized and was trying to set in motion using cables.
His location was made after citizens called the Police in the early hours of today, that a person was trying to steal a car in an area of Kato Paphos. Members of the Police went to the area and found a person in the driver's seat of a car without registration plates, which were inside the vehicle.
This person was trying to start the vehicle using the cables under the steering wheel, without being in possession of the vehicle keys.
It was found that this car is registered with a 53-year-old British permanent resident of Paphos. Under questioning, the 36-year-old did not give satisfactory explanations, was arrested for the offence of illegal possession of property and detained.
Police are continuing to search for the registered owner to determine where the vehicle was stolen from and under what circumstances it was found in the 36-year-old's possession.

Loaded with a pile of tools in his backpack, a foreigner wanted to pass this morning inside the Limassol District Court.
With a bag weighing more than five kilos, the citizen in question passed through the X-ray machine located at the Civil Court, with the responsible private security services company literally left with their mouths open.
Opening the alien's bag, they took out tools, screwdrivers, pliers, bicycle pump and even thinner!

It is understood that the items were confiscated by the employees of the security company and with the foreigner entering the Court, empty-handed.

Two more Syrian men, 29 and 27, were arrested as people smuggling suspects, following the arrival of six boats a few days ago with almost 500 migrants, police said on Thursday. This brings the total to six arrests.
According to police, the two men were in the first boat of migrants found off the coast of Cape Greco on Monday.
The arrest of the two men, who are expected in Famagusta District Court for a remand on Thursday, follows the arrest and remand of another two on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old was on the fourth boat, while the 27-year-old was on the fifth boat.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday another two men, 41 and 23 on the sixth boat, were remanded for eight-days.
The group of boats had a total of 458 migrants.
The migrants were initially escorted to safety at the Ayia Napa marina where their details were registered.
The boats carried a total of 30, 24, 62, 37, 22 and 283 people, of whom 258 men, 44 women, 123 children and 33 unaccompanied minors.
According to the police the six boats set off from Lebanon and the passengers paid $3,000 each for the journey, to an unknown individual.

The police in Limassol have just arrested two people in connection with a money laundering case.
According to initial information, the two persons were placed under surveillance following information that they were involved in money laundering. The two persons were seen coming out of a gallery in the centre of Limassol and were stopped.
In their possession, a large amount of money was found, for which they gave no explanation and so they were arrested. Members of the Limassol Police Department are at the scene for on-site examinations.
From the examinations it appears that the amount that the two persons had on them exceeds €100,000.
