A total of 458 irregular migrants, who were detected yesterday afternoon on six boats off Cape Greco, were transferred to the Pournara Accommodation Centre.
CNA reports that at noon yesterday, six boats with irregular migrants were detected in the sea area of Cape Greco by the radars of the Port and Maritime Police.
Boats of the Port and Maritime Police went to the area and the boats with the migrants were safely taken to the Ayia Napa marina and after recording their details they were transferred to the Pournara Accommodation Center
The first boat had a total of 30 people on board, 18 men, 3 women, 7 children and 2 unaccompanied, the second 24 persons, 14 men, 3 women, 5 children and 2 unaccompanied persons and the third 62 persons, 36 men, 6 women, 11 children and 9 unaccompanied.
The fourth boat was carrying 37 persons, 14 men, 4 women, 18 children and 1 unaccompanied, the fifth 22 persons, 14 men, 1 woman, 3 children and 4 unaccompanied and the sixth boat 283, 162 men, 27 women, 79 children, 15 unaccompanied.
According to CNA's information, the migrants told police that the six boats set off from Lebanon after paying three thousand dollars each to an unknown person.
Based on the testimonies of migrants, two people, a 31-year-old man from Lebanon and a 23-year-old man from Syria, who were on the sixth boat were arrested by the police.
The two people are expected to be brought before the Famagusta District Court today for a detention order.
