Data on the involvement of students with drugs for whom the YKAN opened a criminal case was given this morning in Parliament.
According to YKAN Governor Stelios Aristidou, criminal cases have been opened for 138 students in the last three years.
Specifically, for 2021, out of 861 cases dealt with by the Service, 42 concerned minors, of which 30 were students (21 Cypriots and 9 foreigners).
In 2022, YKAN dealt with 1017 cases and criminal cases had been opened for 51 underage students, of which 43 were Cypriots and 8 foreigners.
In 2023, a total of 1095 cases were examined and criminal files had been formed for 45 students, of which 23 were Cypriots and 22 foreigners.
Mr. Aristidou, who was speaking to the Legal Affairs Committee, which was examining the issue of minors and drug use-trafficking, said that schools and parks that have a drug problem have been mapped.
