WEDDING TOURISM HIGH ON THE PRIORITIES OF PAPHOS There was a very productive meeting today, meeting operators/members of ETAP Paphos for the important sector of wedding tourism. The meeting was attended and actively participated by representatives of the Municipalities of Paphos, Geroskipou, Pegeias, representative of PASYXE Paphos, Association of Travel Agents Pafos and Agritourism company.
Through the effort of better coordination to attract incoming tourism for wedding ceremonies, a wide range of actions and initiatives were considered, both for the promotion as for coordinating actions but also solving problems that exist.
The participants decided among others the following:
Examining the possibility of participating in specialized wedding tourism exhibitions mainly in the UK, but also in other emerging markets. Handling a bunch of PR actions, such as hosting influencers/bloggers, organizing familiarization trips to wedding planners from existing markets as well as emerging markets such as Poland, Lebanon, France and others. Upgrading the presentation of "Destination Paphos", the various venues for wedding ceremonies but also the promotion of wedding tourism with the use of digital technology.
At the same time, issues of piracy were discussed by various intermediaries in the field of wedding tourism, as well as the exorbitant fees for using some archaeological sites and monuments.
Finally it was decided that in the next meeting to be held in March, the group will expand to include all hoteliers and other professionals in the private sector that actively promote this specialized form of tourism.
The meeting is judged by the Society for Tourism Development and Promotion of the Region Paphos very successful, since the foundations for a new approach have now been set in motion in the development of wedding tourism in Pafos District.
