Pro-peace Russians in Cyprus are set to observe the anniversary of the country’s invasion of Ukraine with a series of rallies across the island.
According to an announcement by the Democratic Community of Russians in Cyprus, the events, named “Two Years of Terror” will take place in Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos, and Larnaca on Saturday, February 24, starting at 3 p.m., aiming to draw attention to the ongoing strife and call for peace.
“This tragic day serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing conflict and the innocent lives lost in the pursuit of peace,” the announcement said.
Noting that the event will be global, the announcement added: “Russian-speaking anti-war and pro-democratic activists across the world will unite to voice their condemnation of the Russian authorities’ actions.”
The rallies will underscore the demand for “an immediate end to the war, the liberation of occupied territories, and the safe return of all Russian soldiers to their homes.”
Participants will also express support for “a Ukraine victory in the war, a Russia without Putin and Putinism, and the immediate release of all political prisoners convicted in Russia for anti-war activities,” the announcement stressed.
