46 NEW POLICE PATROL CARS WITH SPEED CONTROL SYSTEMS ON THE STREETS

With new police vehicles and new Mobile Command Stations, the Police fleet will be strengthened in the near future. These are 46 patrol cars, hatchback type and two vehicles specially configured to function as Mobile Command Stations.

The 46 hatchback patrol vehicles are fully configured to meet the needs and duties of members of the Police. They have a range of modern technological equipment, intertwined with the needs of modern policing.

In addition to their basic equipment (lights, siren, announcement and projection loudspeaker), the new patrol cars are equipped with an on board speed radar, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), police vehicle location system, wireless communication system (Tetra), as well as a navigation system (GPS).

The two specially configured vehicles have all the technological equipment that allows them to be deployed and operate as Command Stations, near the locations of police operations. The two Mobile Command Stations have, among other things, electricity generation systems, telecommunications management systems and a sound and video reception system from the area of ​​police operations. At the same time, they also have meeting and deposition space.

The new patrol cars will be made available immediately to the Provincial Police Directorates, to cover their service needs. At the same time, one Mobile Command Station will be allocated to cover the needs of the Police Departments of Limassol and Paphos and the second for the needs of the Police Departments of Larnaca and Famagusta.

The new vehicles were inspected yesterday by the Chief of Police, Mr. Stelios Papatheodorou, who was informed about their features and capabilities.
