A total of 10 certificates of suitability of trucks were revoked in just one day in the Paphos district, during checks by the Police and the Road Transport Department.
According to a relevant announcement, the check took place on Monday as part of the week of information and checks on the driving of buses and trucks, carried out until next Sunday, by the European Traffic Police Network Roadpol, in all European countries that are members of the Police Network. According to the announcement, a total of 121 complaints were made for various traffic offences, following a check of 43 drivers and vehicles.
The focus was on the technical and mechanical inspection of the condition and suitability of buses and trucks that were found to be driven on roads in the Paphos district. At the same time, the documents of the vehicles, as well as those of professional bus and truck drivers, were checked.
Of the infringements detected and reported, 92 complaints concerning the use of tachographs stand out, five complaints from persons detected driving crossed out or unregistered vehicles and two complaints from persons driving vehicles without themselves being covered by an insurance certificate.
There have also been complaints about protective bars and side fenders on trucks, about the operation of vehicle headlights and about illegal vehicle modifications or adjustments.
