The implementation of the Training Plan for Employees in Hotel Units that are under total or partial suspension of work during the period December 2023 – March 2024 and January 2024 – May 2024 (for Mountain Resort Hotels) and the Training Plan for Employees in Leisure Centers located in the free area of Famagusta and on the Paphos coastal front and are under suspension of work during the period December 2023 – March 2024, announced again this year the Ministry of Labour.
The aim of the projects is to provide training opportunities to employees, with the ultimate goal of improving their professional skills and thus upgrading the tourist product of Cyprus.
The Hotel Employee Training scheme will be implemented for two periods, namely from December 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 and from January 1, 2024 to May 31, 2024 (for Mountain Resort hotels).
The Training Plan for Employees in Leisure Centres located in the free area of Famagusta and on the Paphos coastal front will be implemented from 1 December 2023 until 31 March 2024.
According to the plans approved by the Council of Ministers, if the Leisure Centres or Hotel Units choose to continue their operation during the period when they used to suspend their operations in previous years, then the unemployment benefit, which would normally be provided to employees, will be provided to the enterprise or hotel unit as a training allowance. while the business or hotel unit will pay the full salary to the employee.
The competent body for the management of the plans is the Social Insurance Services of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance.
