Pafos Live 28 January 2024
Around 6,500 were the inhabitants of the walled city of Pafos during the Hellenistic period. The city at that time was built around the current location of the port of Kato Pafos.
Three universities in Poland and one in Germany collaborate, under the supervision of the Department of Antiquities, to depict in three-dimensional form the city of Pafos during both the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
Polish archaeologists from two universities, Warsaw, Krakow, and researchers from the Technical University of Warsaw and the University of Hamburg, Germany, have been working in recent years to capture in three-dimensional form the ancient city of Pafos based on the findings of archaeological research.
This study will highlight other data, not only on the number of inhabitants, but also on their occupations and transactions with the rest of the known world. The Polish archaeological mission, which has uncovered findings of unique value in the archaeological park of Pafos, such as the houses of the century and the ancient market of Pafos, is preparing to open in the coming months an archaeology research center that will house the missions but will also be a study space for researchers.
