The immediate intervention and self-sacrifice of police officers in Pafos prevented a tragedy at sea.
A 20-year-old tourist, despite the bad weather conditions that prevail today, went swimming, but was in danger of drowning due to the heavy sea.
The 20-year-old, who comes from Estonia and has been in Paphos for a few days on holiday, started calling for help and luckily a police patrol was at the scene.
Two members of the Coast Guard and a member of the Pafos Police Authority, despite the adverse conditions that prevailed, got into the water, managing to retrieve the young man to the shore after several minutes of fighting with the waves.
In this attempt, they were slightly injured.
The Police Announcement
Responding again to their mission, members of the Police provided assistance to a person whose life was in danger in a sea area of Pafos.
Specifically, at around 8.30 am today, the Police responded to a report about a person who, while in a sea area of Pafos due to rough seas, was in danger of his life.
In order to rescue him, a boat of the Port and Maritime Police, a helicopter of the Police, as well as members of the Pafos Police Authority went to the area.
Two members of the Coast Guard and a member of the Paphos Police Authority dived into the sea, where they transported him safely ashore.
Both the bather, aged 20, and the three members of the Police have minor injuries.
