In detail, the actions that contributed to the strengthening and strengthening of the GHS through numbers, were given by the HIO.
Focusing on the beneficiary and his needs, the Organization has worked at an unabated pace in order to meet the high demands for shielding, improving and effectively addressing the challenges of the Health System. Thus, it made changes, tightened controls and introduced new services so that the GHS can record positive steps forward.
The large volume of quality services offered to beneficiaries is valued for yet another year with a positive sign.
Specifically, from the beginning of 2023 until the end of December:
• 810,077 beneficiaries visited Personal Doctors
• 627,173 beneficiaries visited Specialist Doctors
• 700,373 beneficiaries have received their medicines through the System
• 500,948 beneficiaries have performed laboratory tests
• 66,554 beneficiaries have undergone surgery through the System
• 120,460 beneficiaries received inpatient care services
At the same time, the Health Insurance Organization proceeded to introduce quality criteria in the way hospitals are paid, promoting healthy competition and upgrading the quality of services. It also strengthened the position of beneficiaries in the GHS by introducing the qualitative evaluation of hospitals through questionnaires. The Organization also continues its effort to upgrade the quality of services provided through the process of adapting and implementing guidelines in cooperation with all scientific bodies.
The Organization also succeeded in expanding the services of the GHS through the integration of two new hospitals, two Accident and Emergency Departments, the provision of services by podiatrists, the addition of another provider of home palliative care services, the expansion of rehabilitation services for cardiothoracic surgery and the upgrading of home services of general nursing and speech pathology.
Realizing its debt both to existing beneficiaries and future generations, the Health Insurance Organization will continue to work for the further improvement and upgrading of the General Health System. Always in cooperation with all competent bodies, to achieve the common goal: To ensure the right of each beneficiary to have equal and unhindered access to quality health services.
