We have become accustomed in the coastal areas of our island to associate the sanctification of the waters every year on such a day with the relevant ceremony in our seas. In the Holy and Stavropegic Monastery of Agios Neofytos, however, a different ceremony takes place every year on the day of the Epiphany, which is gaining more and more spectators.
In the famous Monastery, located in a green landscape in the mountains that dominate Pafos, in the area of Tala, the epicenter of the ceremony is the small and beautiful fountain that exists in the gardens of the monastery. After the Divine Liturgy, the monastic community, headed by the Abbot of the Monastery, Bishop Leontiou of Hytra, celebrates the liturgy of the sanctification of the waters in this fountain, in a ceremony different from the bustling ceremonies on the beaches of Cyprus, but clearly more interesting and with more religiosity due to its closed texture.
Dozens of believers who attended the liturgy of the Epiphany in Agios Neophytos from the morning, then watched the sanctification of the waters, flooding the premises of the monastery. A ceremony attended with evident admiration by dozens of foreign visitors who in the morning had found themselves with organized excursions for pilgrimage and tour of the internationally famous religious site.
The established ceremonies of sanctification of the waters and diving of the Holy Cross took place this morning in all Municipalities of the Pafos district. At the ceremony that took place at the port of Kato Pafos, the Government was represented by the Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letympiotis.
