The Pafos District Court issued two days of detention orders against two persons yesterday to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of possession of burglary tools and illegal possession of property.

According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on Saturday night members of the Crime Prevention Unit went to an area in Paphos, following information that there was a suspicious person and a little later they located a specific vehicle, from which a person exited. He was allegedly holding a hand bag, which he left on the ground and then got into the car.

The vehicle was stopped and it was found that the driver was a 57-year-old man and a 29-year-old co-driver, permanent residents of Cyprus.

A search of the vehicle found in the driver's seat various items, which are burglary tools as well as a knife of a prohibited type. The two persons were arrested and detained.

Furthermore, the bag that had been previously left was searched and various burglary tools and property were found in it, which, according to the Police, was suspected to be stolen.
