The competent official, Maria Yagou, characterized 2023 as a very good year in terms of civil weddings in the Municipality of Peyia.
In her statements to KYPE, Mrs. Yagou stated that in 2023, 800 civil weddings were performed in the Municipality of Peyia, from which the Municipality collected approximately €500,000.
In relation to 2024, the year is developing satisfactorily, added Ms. Yagou, saying that the available reservations for civil weddings in the Municipality for this year have almost been closed. She added that bookings continue for 2025 and 2026.
Asked about this, Mrs. Yagou mentioned that the couples who usually wish to have their civil marriage in Pegeia, are from Britain, Poland, Israel (before the war period), Ukraine and other European countries.
The places offered for civil weddings in the Municipality of Pegeia, she continued, are the Fountain of Pegeiotissa, all the beach hotels, estates in the area that have been specially designed for civil weddings, and the area of the Sea Caves.
To promote wedding tourism through the performance of civil weddings, she continued, the local authority of Peyia participates in various exhibitions abroad.
