A total of 239 persons, who were staying illegally in Cyprus, were repatriated in the last week (19/01/2024 – 26/01/2024), as part of the intensive efforts made by the Police to return third-country nationals to their countries of origin.

Since the beginning of the year, 814 people staying illegally in Cyprus have departed our country through forced and voluntary return procedures.

It is noted that in 2023, 9,699 third-country nationals had been repatriated to their countries of origin.

Also, on Thursday evening, 16 foreigners departed from Larnaka Airport under the escort of members of the Aliens and Migration Service, in the framework of a joint return operation involving the Cyprus Police, organized by the French Police under the coordination of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) for the return of third-country nationals staying illegally in the European Union.

The efforts of the Police and the Aliens and Immigration Service to maximize the number of repatriations continue.
