SIX MONTH BUDGET [DUE TO REFORMS] APPROVED AND SURPLUS EXPECTED

In the pattern of fiscal consolidation and stability and the clear growth orientation of the last 10 years or so, the Budget of the Municipality of Pafos is moving, which was approved by a large majority (17 votes in favour and 3 against) by the Municipal Council at its last meeting.

The Budget was prepared on a six-month basis for the period 1 January – 30 June 2024 in light of the voted legislative framework concerning the Reform of Local Government, which as it is known will enter into force on 1 July 2024.

The budget forecasts revenue of €17.4 million and expenditure of €13.2 million, i.e. it is in surplus, with an expected surplus of €4.2 million.

Development expenditure for the first half of 2024 amounts to approximately €24 million and mainly concerns infrastructure and beautification projects of the city, as well as projects and actions related to the goal of transforming Pafos into a Smart and Digital City.

According to the current legislation, the Municipal Budgets are approved by the Minister of the Interior with the prior consent of the Minister of Finance.
