Average rainfall in the free areas is limited to 44% of normal from 1 October (start of the hydrological year), with dam occupancy limited to 46%.
According to preliminary data of the Department of Meteorology until 08:00 today, the average rainfall in the free areas since October 1 is limited to 84.2 mm, compared to 191.6 mm that is the historical data of 1961-1990 and corresponds to 44%.
The rainfall in the last 24 hours amounts to 3.6 mm, compared to 105.6 which is normal based on historical data.
The highest rainfall rates, compared to normal, occur at the station in Athienou with 94%, followed by Stavros tis Psokas with 82% and President with 75%. On the contrary, the lowest percentages are recorded in Xylotymbou with just 11%, followed by Larnaka Airport and Athalassa Station in Nicosia with 16% and 18% respectively.
Low dam occupancy
Besides, according to today's data from the Water Development Department, the total occupancy in the large dams of Cyprus stands at 46%, compared to 68% last year.
