MAJOR ROAD WORKS

 


On bridges of the Larnaca - Ayia Napa highway, in the area of the "Rizoelias" roundabout, in Larnaca, on Monday 18 December 2023 at 09:00 in the morning until Thursday 21 December 2023 at 15:00, maintenance work will be carried out . During the above period, the following sections of the highway will be closed, in order, not simultaneously, and traffic will be channeled seamlessly into the adjacent traffic lane: a) part of one lane of the highway, 500 meters before the exit to Nicosia, in the direction of Ayia Napa b) part of one lane of the highway 300 meters before the flyover of the Rizoelia Junction in the direction of Ayia Napa and c) section of the Larnaca – Nicosia highway, at the Rizoelia roundabout, at the exit to Larnaca Airport

On the Anthoupoli – Denia Motorway (A9), from Monday 18/12/2023 until Thursday 21/12/2023, between the hours of 09:00 – 14:00, maintenance work will be carried out on the greenery of the central islands, from Department of Forestry. During the execution of the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed, for a length of 1500m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. On the highways in the province of Larnaca, in the period 04/12/2023 – 26/1/2024, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, every day except weekends and holidays, the Forestry Department will carry out pruning and spraying of bushes, on the slopes of their highways and junctions. During the works, part of the ramp will be closed, in sections 300 meters long each way, on the Larnaca-Agia Napa highway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout and on the Nicosia-Larnaka highway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the exit to Lymbia, as well as on the Larnaca - Kofinou highway (from both directions). In Limassol, on the vertical road that connects the Limassol-Paphos highway with the New Port of Limassol, in the period 27/11/2023 – 22/12/2023, including weekends and from Wednesday 27/12/2023 until Saturday 30/12/2023, between the hours of 06:00 and 17:00, landscaping / planting of the central island, roundabouts and green strips will be carried out. During them, one traffic lane in each direction will be closed at all times, for a length of 200-250 meters and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane. It will also close part of the bike path in a length of 300m. approx. and traffic will be on the sidewalk with shared use. Also on the vertical road that connects the Limassol - Paphos highway with the New Port of Limassol, as well as on the Limassol Coastal Road, in the period from Friday 01/12/2023 to Saturday 23/12/2023, including weekends, there will be works by a private company, for the installation of the photo-marking system, within the framework of the Contract of the Electromechanical Service Department. During the works, one traffic lane will be closed at all times for a length of 100m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In Strovolos, in the period 17/10/2023 – 31/1/2024, a section of Strovolou Street will be closed from its junction with Hydras Street to its junction with Pentelis Street, as part of the "Road within Tseriou" Project. within the framework of the 6th phase of the works. During the above phase, traffic heading to and from Nicosia will be diverted to Pentelis, Veroia and Archiepiskopou Kyprianou streets. For the above traffic detour there will be appropriate temporary markings, which drivers should follow. In Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, from Friday 12/5/2023 and for a period of 20 months, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Department Avenues of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Hippocrates Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their junction with Themistokleous Street to Nikias Street and Kentaurou Street respectively. In the wider area of Larnaca and Famagusta from Wednesday 06/09/2023 and for a period of approximately 4 months, a private company will carry out works to replace outdated signalling equipment at 33 light-controlled junctions and 12 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings, with a new low-consumption type ( Extra Low Voltage-ELV) with LED lamps, Pedestrian Countdown and touch-type demand system for pedestrians. The equipment replacement works at each point will be completed within one day, barring unforeseen circumstances, and during the works the light-controlled junctions and pedestrian crossings will be closed. Tthey remain out of service unless it is deemed necessary to install temporary traffic lights. The above contributions will be preceded by civil engineering works for the infrastructures. During the week 11/12/2023 – 17/12/2023, works will be carried out at the intersections / pedestrian crossings:

· G. Kranidioti Avenue (Pedestrian Crossing, Larnaca) · Sp. Kyprianou Avenue / Papanikoli (Traffic Lights, Larnaca) · G. Kranidioti / Agriniou Ave. (Traffic Lights, Larnaca) · N. & D. Pattichi Ave. / Kalymnos (Traffic lights, Larnaca) · 1st April Avenue / Griva Digeni (Traffic Lights, Larnaca) In the province of Nicosia, at the Tseri bypass (Halepiano road), from Saturday May 6, 2023, from 7.00 in the morning and for a period of six (6) months, works will be carried out at the junction with the road under construction that will join the Perimetriko Motorway. The traffic lanes will be moved slightly south for a period of 3 months and then further north for another 3 months. In Tseri, Nicosia province, from September 1, 2022, works will be carried out on the Road within Tseri, which will last 78 weeks and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2024. Works will be carried out within the Municipality of Tseri to upgrade the main road that passes through the Municipality. More specifically, the works will include the construction of a two-lane road (with additional clockwise lanes at the traffic lights) within the Municipality of Tseri for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometers. It also includes the construction of sections of bypass roads (K. Misiaulis, Salaminas, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), in a total area of approximately 600 meters, which contribute to the main road. In the project, a small roundabout will be built connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northern end. Along the road, parking spaces will be created on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the Municipality as well as the two Primary Schools included in the project. The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, the installation of traffic lights, the undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of new street lighting and other related works. Depending on each phase of the works, the relevant announcements will be issued that will describe the works to be performed as well as the corresponding traffic regulations. As part of the "Road within Tseri" Project, as part of the 6th phase of the works, in the period 17/10/2023 - 31/1/2024, a section of Strovolou Street will be closed from its junction with Hydra Street to its junction with Pentelis street. During the above phase, traffic heading to and from Nicosia will be diverted to Pentelis, Veroia and Archiepiskopou Kyprianou streets. For the above traffic detour there will be appropriate temporary markings, which drivers should follow. Also within the framework of the "Road within Tseri" Project, in the period 1/12/2023 - 31/1/2024, the seventh phase of the works is to be implemented, during which a section of Salaminos Street will remain closed, from its junction with Strovolou Street until its junction with Achaion Street. During the above phase, the access of vehicles from Strovolou Street to Salaminos Street will be made from adjacent overpasses. For the above traffic regulation, there will be appropriate temporary markings, which drivers should follow. In the province of Larnaca, on Friday 19/05/2023, the reconstruction works of the Ormidia - Xylofago road will begin, which will last for approximately 12 months, until the end of May 2024. The project is an improvement of part of the existing road that connects the community of Ormidia with the old Larnaca - Dekelia - Famagusta road. The section of the existing road that is being improved begins immediately after the exit from the residential area (near the junction with Menelaou Ludemi Street) and ends at the junction with the old Larnaca - Dekelia - Famagusta road. Also in the province of Larnaca, as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Ormideia - Xylofagos Road" Project, from August 28, 2023 until July 17, 2024, work will be carried out on Anexartisias Street. The road will be closed to traffic in both directions, from the junction with Menelaou Ludemi Street to the junction with the old Larnaca-Dekelia-Ammochosto road. During the works, traffic will be diverted to an existing parallel road (old Larnaca-Dekelia-Ammochosto road). The movement of vehicles and pedestrians on adjacent roads and properties will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements. In the province of Larnaca, the Larnaca-Dekelia coastal road, from the height of Athens Street in Oroklini to the Oroklini Fire Station, will be closed to traffic in both directions from 20/11/2023 until 10/5/2024, in the framework of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C" Project. The traffic will be diverted via Mediterranean Street and drivers are urged to use caution. In the district of Paphos, the road Aspro Potamos (boundaries of the State Forest) - Toxeutras in the Akamas National Forest Park is still closed, due to improvement works on the road network. The public, to avoid inconvenience but also for safety reasons, is invited to avoid using the road in question and to use the roads that lead from the communities of Inia, Arodon and Kathika to the Park. In particular, those who will visit Lara should use the "Inia-Lara" road and those who will visit Avakas the "Pano Arodes-Avakas" road. Land owners, farmers, breeders and other professionals operating in the area can use the "Pegia-Osia Matrona-Avakas" road. On the Nicosia-Troodos road, from Tuesday 6/6/2023 and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Astromeritis-Evrycho highway, retaining wall construction will be carried out along the Nicosia-Troodos highway in the Koutrafa Community, in the Koronia area. Traffic on the Nicosia – Troodos highway will be conducted through a bypass road parallel to the existing road. In Germasogeia, on Agios Georgiou Street, the work on the Project "Improvement of the Bypass Road of Germasogeia, Phase A" continues as normal. In the period 01/11/2023 – 29/1/2024, works will be carried out, during which the section of Agios Georgiou Street from its junction with Mikis Theodorakis Avenue, to its junction with Michalaki Karaolis Street, will is closed to traffic. Traffic to and from the Muttayakas area will be via Potamia and Rigaina streets. Also from Wednesday 01/11/2023, the following traffic arrangements will apply: (a) Mylou Street will be open to traffic from its junction with the roundabout of Agia Paraskevi Street to its junction with Potamias Street. (b) The two uphill lanes of Agia Paraskevi Street from its junction with Patmos Street to the roundabout beyond Mylou Street will be fully open to traffic. (c) The roundabout at the junction of Agia Paraskevi, Mylos and Mikis Theodorakis will be fully open to traffic. (d) The rest of the traffic arrangements remain as they are. Also for the "Improvement of the Bypass Road of Germasogeia, Phase A" Project, in the period from Wednesday 8/11/2023 until 22/12/2023, work will be carried out on the eastern part of Isabella Street from its junction with Ave. Miki Theodorakis up to its junction with Potamias Street. During the works, the section of road will be closed to traffic and traffic to and from the adjacent eastern area will be via an adjacent temporary section of road constructed for this purpose. The rest of the traffic arrangements remain as they are. As part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Road Network of the Vassilikos Energy Center, in Mari, from March 23, 2023, on the road between the EAC substation and the Vassilikos River in Mari, north of the cement plant facilities, system construction works will be carried out sewage system and one lane will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be regulated with traffic lights. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians, on adjacent roads and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements. From Monday 13/11/2023 and for a period of approximately five months, work will be carried out on the construction of roundabouts - the construction of a dividing island and temporary parking spaces, road surface maintenance, the implementation of traffic management and road safety measures on Kolonaki Avenues in Agios Athanasios and Spyros Kyprianou in Germasogeia. During the works, there will be two-way traffic in one lane in each direction at all times, except when it will be necessary to close one or both lanes. In these cases the work will be carried out during the night (Monday – Thursday) or Sundays. The daily work will be carried out between the hours of 06:00 - 17:00, Sundays 06:00 - 18:00 and the night work between the hours of 21:00 until 06:00 the next day. In the period 11/12/2023 – 31/1/2024, excluding Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 23:30 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the following day, cleaning works of rainwater collection wells will be carried out at the roundabouts of the Bypass Road Limassol as well as at the entrances and exits from the roundabouts to the Bypass. During the works, one traffic lane of of any junction or of each exit - entrance to the junction and traffic will be diverted to the other traffic lane. In the period from 11/12/2023 to 5/3/2024, between the hours 08:30 - 15:00, work will be carried out to cut/prune and collect acacias and other trees from the supports and slopes along the entire length of Larnaca – Ayia Napa highway in both directions, including Junctions. During the work, the freeway shoulder will be partially closed and traffic will remain in the normal lanes without the shoulder.
