Duty-free tobacco products were found and confiscated yesterday by members of the Limassol OPE in the context of actions taken to combat the illegal possession, trafficking and trade of duty-free tobacco products and the fraudulent evasion of consumption taxes and VAT.

Specifically, during a search that took place yesterday around 6 pm, in a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man in an area of Limassol, three boxes containing a total of 18 kilos of tobacco were found, which were confiscated.

Both the seized items and the 27-year-old, who was arrested for a flagrant offence, were handed over to the Customs Department, which undertook the further investigation of the case.

The Paphos Police found eight persons indulging in gambling in a cafe in Paphos.

According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations Michalis Nikolaou on 21.12.23 at 14:30 in the afternoon, as part of an operation to combat the phenomenon of electronic gambling and gambling, members of the Paphos Crime Prevention Ulam entered a coffee shop on Agapinoros Street where eight persons were found playing poker.

During the operation, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE, 104 playing cards and dice were confiscated.

All eight persons were charged in writing to be summoned later.

The Paphos District Court sentenced a 27-year-old person to ten months in prison on Thursday for driving a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs and without insurance coverage.

As the Assistant Police Director of Operations of Paphos Michalis Nikolaou stated at the KYPE, the specific person was also given eight points of punishment, and deprivation of a driver's license for twelve months, which will begin after the release of the 27-year-old.

Mr Nikolaou stated that the 27 year old has repeatedly engaged the Police.

A third person has been arrested for hooliganism at a football match last weekend, police said on Friday.

A 22-year-old resident of Limassol was arrested and detained, police said. His photograph had been released as a wanted person.

The trouble broke out at the Apollon New Salamina match in Limassol on Sunday.

Police have released photos of and are looking for a further four people.
