A 22-year-old man from the Limassol district was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Larnaca Permanent Assize Court, who trafficked a large quantity of cannabis in order, as he confessed, to pay off a debt he created by buying drugs.
The young defendant was found guilty by his own admission to charges of possession of almost 10kg of cannabis with intent to supply it to other persons. According to the facts of the case, on October 7, 2023, members of the Drug Enforcement Administration rushed to an area in Zygi, following information that a large amount of marijuana would be contrabanded.
The members of the YKAN spotted the convict's car heading from the exit of Kalavasos towards Zygi. At one point, the 22-year-old stopped near an air bridge and headed to a reed bed in the area. There he was seen picking up two black garbage bags, which he put in his car and drove away. That's when a police car started chasing him. In his attempt to escape, the 22-year-old drove his car into a field with olive trees, as a result of which it came to a standstill. He then got out of his vehicle and fled. Officers searched his car and found ten kilograms of cannabis in the black bags.
The next day the defendant presented himself with his lawyer to the police, who handcuffed him. In his testimony, he said he would move the cannabis to another location and that this would pay off a €1,500 debt he had created from the drug market.

The members of the Pafos Traffic Police couldn't believe their eyes last night when, during a vehicle inspection, they found that a 50-year-old driver was driving a vehicle whose license had not been renewed since 2014, nine years ago.
This particular driver was not only behind the wheel without traffic since 2014, as it was found that his vehicle was written off since 2017.
Of course, the violations of the Code of Civil Procedure did not end there, since the vehicle, as expected, also had no MOT.
