A CAR FOR PASYKAF FROM THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF PAPHOS

 Filenews 8 December 2023

A milestone day for The International School of Paphos' philanthropic activity could be characterized as November 25, 2023.

Completing a three-year charity campaign, which included a multitude of events inside and outside the school, the Philanthropy Club and the school's Pastoral team managed to raise an impressive €14,500. As part of the school's continuous support to cancer patients in Paphos and the long-standing cooperation with the Pancyprian Association of Cancer Patients and Friends, the school's management allocated this impressive amount for the purchase of a car. This vehicle will greatly contribute to the provision of 24-hour care and support to cancer patients in Paphos. In a beautiful event organized as part of the established Winter Fair, on November 25, 2023 in the central courtyard of the school, the management proudly and satisfactorily handed over the car keys to PASYKAF representatives.

The people of PASYKAF, visibly moved, warmly thanked the ISOP school community for their generous offer. They said the school donated an NISSAN car worth 11,000 euros and hospital equipment worth 3,500 euros to the association. The Administrative Officer of PASYKAF Pafos, Mrs. Anna Constantinou, stated: "The response of the students and the management of ISOP is tangible proof of their sensitivity for vulnerable social groups. PASYKAF expresses its thanks and deep appreciation to Mrs. Aristi Andrioti, CEO of the school, to Mr. Kyriakos Kasioulis, Director of the School, and to Mrs. Claire Polycarpou, Director of Secondary Education of ISOP, for this excellent initiative. When you have such people, as companions in your work, you can only feel vindicated for the purpose you serve but also optimistic about the future."

The ceremony of handing over the car and the hospital equipment to PASYKAF is one of the most important moments in the school's long history. The ISOP school community can feel proud of this collective effort and its amazing result. In addition to its academic contribution, the school proves, through such efforts, that the excellent cooperation of students, teachers, parents and social institutions can bring excellent and beneficial results for the whole society and especially for our fellow human beings in need. Mrs. Polycarpou said: "When you have a common goal, no matter how big, it is achievable through collective work. Such efforts allow our students to realize that many small actions can lead to something very big."

The acquired vehicle will enhance PASYKAF's Home Support and Palliative Care, enabling the nursing team to more effectively provide its care and support to many cancer patients in the Paphos area.

It is worth noting that in the early stages of this charity campaign, the conditions created by the COVID-19 pandemic made the whole effort of the ISOP community difficult. Despite the physical closure of the school and the temporary closure of many businesses, the school community showed unwavering resilience, raising a significant amount through a variety of creative events and activities.

As part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility, the school continues its annual custom of raising money and goods for various causes, such as supporting the Samaritans, strengthening various animal protection organizations, the Red Cross, local care institutions and vulnerable families in the local community.

Having already entered the Christmas festive season, we can all give back to those who really need us!
