The handover of the cultural centre in the village of Lembas is expected around the end of December, said the president of K.S. Lembas Thukydis Chrysostomou, who also referred to the effort to utilize the rich legacy left by the internationally renowned creator from Anafotia, Stas Paraschos.
In his statements to KYPE, the community leader said that the cultural village has been included in the Deputy Ministry of Culture and the project is under the supervision of the technical services, while a first meeting was held last July with the DG of the Deputy Ministry of Culture, in order to study the ways of its operation.
The community leader Lembas noted that the creation of the cultural village, with a total budget of €4 million, foresees, among other things, the development of building infrastructure that will form the core of the School of Fine Arts, while the complex of upgraded infrastructure will also have multifunctional facilities, workshops, rooms exhibitions, but also accommodation and accommodation for teachers, students and other artists.
The goal of the project, Mr. Chrysostomou continued, is "the creation of a cultural lung of supralocal importance and scope, with the College of Art as its axis and core". The project will contribute to the development of artistic education, the highlighting of the rich cultural heritage of our region as well as the promotion of Cyprus as a place for the development of contemporary artistic creation, he added.
Referring to Stas Paraschos, he said that following his rich activities abroad, where he managed to stand out among the artistic and academic world of Great Britain, he founded the Cyprus College of Art in Paphos and in this context "succeeded in inspiring and attracting a multitude of accomplished, but also young artists, as well as visitors, promoting Cyprus as a place for the development of contemporary artistic production".
