The approval of the environmental authority was secured by a project concerning the construction of a stadium with the necessary sports facilities for training and holding matches in the community of Giolou, in the district of Pafos, with a capacity of 1,300 seats.
The project includes the configuration of a football field, the construction of sports facilities for changing rooms, sanitary facilities, event spaces and parking areas and aims at sports and recreation for the needs of the Pafos district.
More specifically, the proposed development will include:
– Football pitch: approximately 6000 sq.m.
– Changing rooms: approximately 80 sq.m.
– Sanitary Facilities: approximately 33 sq.m.
-Event space
-General warehouse: 18 sq.m. approx.
-Parking spaces: 27 spaces for guests, 4 for use by disabled people and 1 for bus parking.
The infrastructure includes the construction of a reinforced concrete retaining wall, landscaping of the stadium area, facility buildings and parking spaces. Fencing will be constructed around the stadium area and the parking area. The proposed project will create a parking space for a small number of vehicles and will be made of asphalt carpet. It is clarified that the main construction works on site have been implemented and according to the architect of the project, the pending construction works are maintenance works of the existing infrastructure, sports facilities, fencing and the stadium, as well as the construction works of the creation of the parking area.
Access to the site of the proposed project will be from the existing road network of the community of Yiolou, which is considered satisfactory.
Finally, the cost of the project carried out by the Community Council of Yiolos is estimated to exceed €1.5 million.
