Non-admission to the charges they face in connection with the murder of 35-year-old Nikos Angelis from Xylotymbou, who died on September 6 at Nicosia General Hospital, the two defendants replied before the Famagusta Permanent Assize Court.
The 42-year-old was charged with murder and his 32-year-old sister with making written threats to murder.
Although the 42-year-old reportedly confessed to police that he argued with the victim and that he fell and hit the head, he replied that he did not plead guilty, while his sister, who is conditionally free, followed the same line.
Following this development, the court set a hearing for the case on January 29, 2024. Until then, the 42-year-old will remain in custody.
It is recalled that the victim was found bleeding at his home in Xylotymbou by relatives on the afternoon of August 29. Initially he was transferred to Larnaka Hospital and then, due to the criticality of his condition, he was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where a few days later he breathed his last.
The 32-year-old was initially arrested in the case and then arrested as the perpetrator of the murder, her 42-year-old brother, who allegedly confessed to beating the 35-year-old at his home.

A grotesque end had a traffic accident with a stolen vehicle driven by a young woman in Larnaka, on Monday night. The young woman, who has concerned the authorities before, lost control of the vehicle which climbed the pavement and ended up in Larnaka salt lake.
According to police, a police officer rushed to the scene and found her limping on the sidewalk. She reportedly said she was injured in the leg and a short time later, as the police officer was investigating the case, she boarded another vehicle with two youths in it.
However, the police officer also boarded the vehicle asking the young woman to give a statement. The driver of the vehicle apparently did not realize in time that the second person who boarded the car was a police officer and developed speed in order to remove the injured young woman from the scene. A short time later, the vehicle stopped, the policeman disembarked and continued its course.
According to the police, who are searching for the three youths, the vehicle had been stolen from an area of the British Bases.
