The possibility of reducing the amount of fines by traffic cameras or providing repayment instalments, as well as the possibility of modifying penalty points or offering the possibility of redeeming them, will be considered by experts.
This was reported to philenews by the Minister of Transport Alexis Vafeadis, noting that in consultation with the Minister of Justice, Anna Koukkidis – Prokopiou, they decided to proceed in a second phase with the actions related to the operation of the photo-labelling system.
«This second stage involves commissioning the experts of the University of Cyprus, who dealt with the bill, to study how we can differentiate the levels of fines, whether they can be paid in instalments, which penalty points should be maintained or whether we should implement a system of buying points or another measure deemed to achieve road safety objectives. but in a way that facilitates the daily lives of citizens," the Minister said.
This stage, he noted, needs more time, recalling that the first phase preceded it, with decisions that can be taken immediately. "Like creating more distinct intersections, especially on the alt line.
