The Cyprus Police have decided extraordinary and draconian security measures for Friday’s event in the area of Nicosia within the walls.
At around 14:00, Arabic-speaking Muslims are planning an event to protest the bombing of the Gaza Strip. A prayer at the Omeriye Mosque in the center of the old city will precede this.
It is reported that the Nicosia Police Directorate has drawn up an operational plan involving 100 police officers, something that shows the seriousness with which the whole event is being treated.
