AVOID ALL NON-ESSENTIAL TRAVEL TO SOUTH LEBANON

 Filenews 14 October 2023

Avoid all non-essential travel to some areas of southern Lebanon, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Cypriot citizens in a travel advisory, due to security incidents taking place in southern Lebanon, "which may worsen without warning".

In particular, the Ministry says it is closely monitoring the situation in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories and the security incidents taking place in southern Lebanon, which it notes may worsen without warning.

"Cypriot citizens are advised to avoid non-essential travel to southern Lebanon, to areas south of the Litani River, including Tyre, to exercise extreme caution and to follow the advice of the security services," it said.

Cypriot citizens in Lebanon are also advised to avoid all gatherings and demonstrations, remain vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities. "It is also recommended to closely monitor developments and information from international and local media, avoid unnecessary travel and implement maximum security measures," the ministry said.

Cypriot citizens are also invited to register, if they wish, on the online registration platform for Cypriots abroad Connect2CY
