One and a half million euros is close to the budget that will be spent on the redevelopment of the core of Koili. The contracts were signed today at the provincial administration. The project will be undertaken by the contracting company D. KOUPPIS & SONS CONSTRUCTIONS.
According to the District Officer of Pafos, Mary Lambrou, the amount of the contract reaches 1,314,000 euros plus VAT and the duration of the project is 13 months. The designers of the project are Efpalinos Meletitiki Ltd and the coordinator is the Pafos District Administration. Both the Designers and the contracting company undertook following a tender procedure based on the Public Procurement Legislation.
At the request of the Pafos District Administration, Lambrou adds, the project is financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development by 53% and by National resources by 47% (through the state budget managed by the District Officer with the contribution of the Community Council).
The project includes the beautification of streets of the traditional core of Koilis with cobblestones. Also , in Koili, an additional important co-financed project has been completed in 2020 through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development concerning the Regional Training Center for Agricultural Professions and Traditional Products, where winemakers' exhibitions and other events have already been organized, while the preparation and distribution of traditional products is already being promoted. This project cost 1.8 million euros with many facilities and preparation rooms, exhibits, events etc.
Finally, she added that it is expected that both projects will attract visitors, while creating the conditions for new jobs and growth.
