A protest rally was held on Monday morning by Israelis who are in Cyprus, upon the arrival of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Presidential Palace for the proceedings of the Trilateral Summit of Cyprus, Greece and Israel.

Those gathered, people of all ages, expressed their opposition to the judicial reform being pushed through in their country, against which mass demonstrations have also taken place in Israel.

Protesters gathered at the junction near the Presidential Palace shortly after 9:00 a.m., as the Israeli Prime Minister was expected to arrive at 10:00 a.m.

Carrying Israeli flags and placards, those gathered protested with slogans such as "shame", "no dictatorship", "democracy will win, Netanyahu in jail", "save Israel's democracy". As some of those gathered said, they are Israeli citizens who arrived from all the cities of Cyprus in order to protest throughout the Trilateral Summit.

They also said they were protesting that judicial reform in their country was being pushed ahead while Netanyahu's corruption trial, where he faces various charges, is ongoing.

They explained that their opposition to judicial reform is triggered by a conflict of interest, due to the ongoing legal process, against Benjamin Netanyahu.

The protest culminated in the arrival of the procession accompanying the Israeli Prime Minister to the Presidential Palace at 10:30 a.m. Those gathered demonstrated peacefully, while the presence of the police force was strong at the scene.
