PAPHOS - POLICE OPERATIONS CONTINUE TO PREVENT CRIME

Police continue operations in low west Paphos after what happened last week in Chloraka.

In this context, coordinated operations with patrols and controls were carried out on Saturday evening in the areas of Chlorakas, Emba and Tremithousa.

According to the Police Headquarters, until Sunday morning, a targeted police campaign was carried out to prevent and combat serious and organized crime in the Pafos district, with the participation of members of the Pafos Police Directorate, the MMAD, the Road Accident Prevention Unit and the Anti-Riot Unit.

A total of 140 vehicle drivers were stopped, which were investigated and the checks revealed 25 traffic complaints, while one person was arrested for illegal stay in the territory of the Republic, one person because fine warrants were pending against him and one for illegal possession of narcotic substances. A vehicle was also impounded for examination purposes.

At the same time, a Crisis Situation Management Centre continues to operate at the Pafos Police Headquarters. Coordinated control and patrol operations continue by the Police, with the aim of tackling crime and consolidating security in the wider area.

For the recent incidents in Chloraka and for the riot, 21 people have so far been arrested and more are wanted.
