INDUCTION OF APOLLONION HOSPITAL A&E INTO GESY POSTPONED

 in-cyprus 26 September 2023 - by Stelios Marathovouniotis

The Accident and Emergency Department of Apollonion Hospital in Nicosia will not be entering the General Health System (GHS) on October 1 as was initially planned.

The hospital’s administration made this announcement earlier today and informed the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO), citing pending procedures related to the necessary approvals from the Ministry of Health.

As reported by Philenews, Dr. Christos Pouris, the President of the hospital’s board of directors, stated, “Unfortunately, it is impossible for the Accident and Emergency Department to join the GHS on the first of October, as initially announced. We, as a hospital, have completed our preparations and are ready. However, we are now awaiting the necessary inspection by the Ministry of Health to assess and grant us the required approval.”

He added, “We have been informed by the Ministry of Health that this inspection will take place next week. Therefore, it is impossible for the Accident and Emergency Department to be integrated into the GHS starting this Sunday. It is likely that at least two more weeks will be needed until the Ministry of Health’s procedures are completed.”
