It costs not only to buy but also to repair a house or apartment.
Data from the Statistical Office show that prices for work on home improvements rose in a year, with August as the reference month, but in some categories the price increases are lower than last year.
Plumbing services grew 5.7% in August year-on-year compared to an 18.9% increase in 2022 and zero change in 2021 compared to 2020.
The price index for electricians' services rose 9.6% in August on an annual rise compared to a rise of 28.6% in 2022 and zero change in 2021.
The price index for painter services has recorded an increase of 12.7% in August year-on-year compared to a rise of 15.7% in 2022 and zero change in 2021.
The price index for carpenter services rose 6.4% in August year-on-year versus a rise of 19.6% in 2022 and 9% in 2021 compared to 2020.
Services for regular home maintenance increased 4.8% in August year-on-year compared to an increase of 11.5% in 2022 and 3.1% in 2021 compared to 2020.
The price index for heating system services rose 5.9% in August year-on-year compared to a rise of 2.1% in 2022 and 0.4%
in 2021.
According to the Statistical Service, the price index for other services for maintenance and repair increased 4.1% in August on an annual basis, compared to a rise of 20.3% in 2022 and 12.9% in 2021.
For an apartment, however, there are other costs such as maintenance charges for apartment buildings.
The price index for this service increased 3.4% in August year-on-year compared to a negative change of 3.9% in 2022 and 8.4% in 2021. In the overhead costs for an apartment or house there are other services.
The waste collection price index increased 3.5% in August year-on-year compared to a rise of 2.5% in 2022 and no change in 2021. The price index for cleaning and maintenance products recorded an increase of 8,8% in August on an annual basis compared to a rise of 0,8% in 2022 and a price decline of -2,1% in 2021.
In the wider expenses of a house or apartment there is also the cost of furniture and household equipment. According to data from the Statistical Service, the household furniture price index increased 4% in August on an annual basis, compared to a rise of 5.6% in 2022 and 6.5% in 2021.
The lighting equipment price index was up 1.4% in August compared to an increase of 10.8% in 2022 and 3.5% in 2021. Apart from the furnishings, there are also household appliances. The price index for August for refrigerators, freezers and fridge-freezers rose 8.3% in August compared to a rise of 2.7% in 2022 and an increase of 4.7% in 2021.
The price index for washing machines and dryers rose 0.4% in August compared to a rise of 3.2% in 2022 and 1.1% in 2021. The price index for kitchens rose 2.8% in August compared to a rise of 7.5% in 2022 and 1.6% in 2021.
