 Filenews 13 September 2023

Following the instructions of the Minister of Interior, Mr. Constantinos Ioannou, a team consisting of Officers of the Pafos District Administration, the Department of Town Planning and Housing (Pafos Offices) and the Game and Fauna Service, completed the inspection and registration of livestock / agricultural premises (stiadia) in the area of Akamas, in which arbitrary modifications were detected.

During the inspections, illegal interventions and alterations were detected in 25 premises in violation of their license. These premises are located in plots on the outskirts of the Akamas National Forest Park at points adjacent to areas of the Natura Network. It is noted that for five of these cases, judicial measures had already been taken by the Pafos District Administration and the Department of Town Planning and Housing.

For the remaining 20 cases and based on the findings of the investigation, the Minister of Interior gave instructions so that the necessary data of the owners can be collected immediately through the Department of Lands and Surveys and the Civil Registry. Subsequently, a reasonable period of time will be given for the illegalities to be removed and legality restored. Cases that do not comply will be forwarded by the Pafos District Administration to the General Prosecutor's Office for judicial action.

It is noted that the checks were carried out with a physical autopsy of the team, as well as with the use of technological means, utilizing the databases of the Department of Lands and Surveys.
