YELLOW WEATHER WARNING TODAY - 40 EXPECTED IN PARTS OF THE INTERIOR.

The mercury is expected to reach 40 in parts of the interior on Saturday, with the Department of Meteorology issuing a new yellow warning valid from 11:00 to 18:00.

"The maximum temperature will be around 40 degrees Celsius in inland areas and around 33 degrees Celsius in the higher mountains," it said.

Seasonal low pressure affects the area.

Today, the weather will be mostly clear. The winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and transient locally in the windward to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little turbulent. The temperature will rise around 40 degrees in the interior, around 31 on the west and north coasts, around 33 on the rest of the coasts as well as in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear, although locally increased low clouds will be observed from time to time. During the dawn hours, sparse fog or fog may form locally. The winds will blow mainly northwest, weak, 3 Beaufort and initially locally to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm until a little turbulent. The temperature will drop to around 20 degrees in the interior, around 22 degrees on the coast and around 18 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Sunday, the weather will be mostly clear. The temperature on Sunday will drop slightly, to fluctuate close to average climatic values.

On Monday, the weather will be mostly clear. The temperature is not expected to change significantly, to fluctuate close to average climatic values.
