Members of Group Z stopped a foreigner who was distributing food for inspection.

While at work, the foreigner tested positive for a narcotic test.

Police arrested a 29-year-old man this morning as part of an investigation into drug possession and possession of drugs for the purpose of supplying to other persons.

The arrest of the 29-year-old was preceded by an arrest and search of the car he was driving (in an area of Nicosia district), by members of the Anti-Narcotics Service.

During the search, four transparent nylon packages were found on the floor of the passenger seat, containing a quantity of cannabis plant matter, with a gross weight of four (4) kilos and approximately 800 grams.

The 29-year-old was arrested for a flagrant offence and taken into custody to facilitate interrogations.

The Pafos district court today found a 58-year-old Greek Cypriot man guilty of shooting and wounding his neighbour's dog on June 19.

The court fully accepted the testimony presented before it, finding guilty the 58-year-old who unnecessarily shot and seriously injured his neighbour's dog, which was inside the fenced yard of his foreign owner.

On the afternoon of 19s June 2023 A 40-year-old permanent resident of Cyprus who lives in Tremithousa, while at his residence heard a gunshot and then his dog crying. Coming out of the house he saw his dog injured in his yard. At the same time, he saw the 58-year-old sitting in his vehicle on the road and placing a shotgun in the passenger seat. Without mentioning anything he developed speed and disappeared.

The owner took his dog to a veterinary clinic where he was eventually rescued, while the 58-year-old was found guilty by the court of threats he made against the life of his landlady who demanded rent payments.

The case was set for events and sentencing on September 12 and until then the 58-year-old will still be held in the central prison.
