Aiming at the equal treatment of all people, the Municipality of Geroskipou proceeded to the creation of a ramp for people with mobility problems on its coastal front.
In statements to CNA, the mayor of the Municipality of Geroskipou, Kyriakos Hadjivassilis, said that the Municipality of Geroskipou is particularly sensitive to people with disabilities and mobility problems, and therefore on the coastal front of Geroskipou has provided for these people to be served by installing a special ramp of European standards.
In this way, people enter the water, while giving instructions to lifeguards to help them both when entering and exiting the water, he added.
He also continued, the Local Authority has provided for and created parking spaces in accessible parts of the coastal front, in order to facilitate parking and access to areas that can be further served.
Indicatively, Mr. Hadjivassilis noted that changing rooms and toilets specially designed for people with disabilities have been installed, adding that this year he has increased the number of these service points in four different parts of the beach. He also pointed out that the Local Authority cooperates with the Organization of People with Disabilities.
Mr. Hadjivassilis expressed his satisfaction for the response of people with disabilities to the special ramps installed by the Municipality of Geroskipou but also for their positive comments.
He added that this year for some reason there was a slight delay and eagerness to install a disabled ramp and users were asking for it to be installed quickly.
