PROTECTION AGAINST RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON - Cyprus Police 1 August 2023
- Before we leave the house, we make sure we haven't left any clues that betray our absence - We avoid any post or notification on the electronic Social Networking media, which may indicate our whereabouts and betray that we are away from our residence - We work with people we trust, such as our parents, adult children, or other people we trust, to periodically check our residence while we are away from it - We make sure our house is well locked, having secured doors, windows, etc. We don't leave keys in the locks, not even on the inside of a door - We do not leave money, jewellery, important documents or other valuables exposed or in unsafe places - For electronic and other devices or valuables bearing a manufacturing serial number, we record their serial number so that it can be located and identified in the event of theft. - If there is an alarm system installed in our home or a closed circuit monitoring system, we make sure that we have activated them
More generally, the public is urged to be alert and cooperate closely with the Police and in case they spot persons or vehicles moving suspiciously, to immediately inform the local Police Station or contact the Citizen's Line at number 1460
