POLICE OPERATIONS IN EMBA, TALA, KISSONERGA AND TREMITHOUSA AS WELL AS CHLORAKAS [Updated]

Intense policing measures were extended to communities neighbouring Chloraka last night.

In areas between the communities of Emba-Talas-Kissonerga and Tremithousa, villages adjacent to Chloraka, where the heavy police presence continued last night to prevent new incidents, dozens of vehicle arrests and checks were made. At the same time, patrols continued throughout the area of western low Pafos.  

Vehicle searches revealed seven complaints from drivers alleging possession of offensive instruments, a small amount of drugs, driving under the influence of drugs, and driving without safety and fitness certificates for the vehicle.


UPDATE - The Police, in the context of the measures taken for the security and prevention of crime, carried out during last night coordinated operations with patrols and controls in the district of Pafos, and specifically in the areas of Chlorakas, Emba and Tremithousa. During the checks, eight people were arrested for various criminal offences and traffic offences.

A total of 200 vehicle drivers were stopped for inspection. Eight people were arrested, including one person for possession of a small quantity of drugs and two persons for causing concern. In the possession of a fourth person, a bat and an opening knife were found and a case of possession of an offensive instrument and stabbing is being investigated against him.

Another five people were arrested for serious traffic offences. Of the five drivers of vehicles arrested, three were found to be driving under the influence of drugs, while another driver was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Five drivers were found to be driving without a driving licence and without being covered by an insurance certificate, one of whom was driving a motorcycle, which was confiscated for examination purposes. Also for examination purposes, six cars were impounded.

Coordinated control and patrol operations continue by the Police, with the aim of tackling crime and consolidating security in the wider area. Both the chief and deputy chief of the force were again in Paphos last night inspecting the police operations.
